Hi so I was the anon that pitched the idea of the Shatterspaces representing Sonic's fears when it first dropped. Now that I've binged all of season 1B, I'd like to slightly update my theory- the four I pitched before are the same (New Yoke is Eggman winning, Boscage Maze is his friends fighting, No Place is water, and The Grim is being alone.) However, I'd like to offer how Ghost Hill fits into this- i think Ghost Hill is Sonic's fear of failure or potentially losing friends- more generalized than New Yoke, it's him letting his friends down or letting them get hurt and having that repeated over and over for all eternity. (The line where he convinces himself Shadow will be okay and says "i knew he'd be fine" pushes this a bit for me tbh)
